Join us for an evening of compassion and celebration at Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Shelter's "21st Annual Angels Gala," a remarkable fundraising event dedicated to making a difference in the lives of mothers and infants in need. As we gather to shine a spotlight on the importance of support for vulnerable mothers, we invite you to be a part of this heartwarming cause.
About the Cause: Every woman deserves a safe and nurturing environment as she embarks on the journey of motherhood. Sadly, not all mothers have access to these essentials, which is why we are coming together to support Our Lady of the Angels Maternity Shelter (OLAMS). OLAMS provided services to women and children through it's three main programs:
- Emergency Shelter: The shelter provides sanctuary and care to pregnant women facing difficult circumstances. This shelter offers not only a roof over their heads but also guidance, education, and a community of empathy, ensuring that both mother and child can begin life independently on a positive trajectory.
- Aftercare: In addition to shelter services for pregnant women in immediate crisis, OLAMS provides life skills and job readiness training, higher education support, materials assistance, and continued counseling and case management once a woman has successfully moved out of the shelter through it's Aftercare program. This support helps women break the cycle of homelessness in order to create a better future for the mother and her children.
- Materials Assistance: This program expands OLAMS' services beyond the shelter walls to the broader community of mothers and children. OLAMS distributes diapers, formula, and car seats throughout Texas. Materials Assistance also provided these families with educational courses and counseling sessions.
